Information Commission imposes penalty of Rs 25,000 on Exe Eng

Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on an Executive Engineer for repeatedly defying the Commission's order to provide information as sought by an appellant.

Information Commissioner Abraham K Techi imposed penalty of Rs 25,000 on Executive Engineer of Mechuka PWD for repeatedly defying the Commission's order to provide information as sought by an appellant.

Appellant T Vijay Samior sought information regarding construction of road and bridges under Mechuka PWD but the the engineer, who is the public information officer, had neither provided the information nor reported it to the Commission despite being served several notices, official sources said here today.
 

The engineer has been asked to pay the penalty before May 16 next.

Failure to comply with the order may compel the Commission to initiate action against him, sources added.
