Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani today joined the International Yoga Day celebrations in Shimla and lauded the large gathering of people there despite the morning deluge.
"Rains did not hamper the spirits of participants at Ambedkar Chowk, Shimla this morning," she posted on Twitter along with pictures of the crowd.
She also shared pictures of "enthusiastic" participants from Art of Living Foundation performing yogic exercises at the historic Ridge.

Thousands of education institutes across the country also joined the celebrations.
In a communication to all institutes and universities across the country, University Grants Commission (UGC) had requested all of them to observe the day and listed several activities such as 'yoga exhibition on yoga postures' and 'online essay competitions'.
The best participants of Yoga Day celebrations were awarded prizes and certificates during the day.
