Women personnel of border guarding force ITBP today displayed to the public some unarmed combat skills and self defense techniques during the 'Rahgiri' event held here.

About two dozen personnel of the force presented the display of these skills in order to create awareness about the subject of self defence amongst women in national capital.

The event was held at Connaught Place during which the trained personnel also demonstrated their judo and karate techniques.

The force, tasked to guard the Sino-India border, has about 2,000 women personnel in its ranks and about 100 of them are 'black belt' holders in karate.

The 'Rahgiri' event was inaugurated by Indo-Tibetan Border Police force chief Krishna Chaudhary.

During the event, the force band also played music and patriotic lyrics for the public, a senior official said.
