The steel city and its surrounding areas in East Singhbhum district experienced the hottest day of the season today, with the area facing intense heat waves.
The maximum temperature, which has been oscillating between 42 to 44 degree Celsius for the last few days, recorded at 44.8 degree, four degree above normal, while the minimum temperature was at 28.5 degrees, also two degree above normal, a Met office spokesman today said.
Two people died, suspected to be due to heat, on Saturday while over half dozen people were admitted in different hospitals of the city, a police officer said today.

Meanwhile, the steel city wore a deserted look in the afternoon when people preferred to remain indoor owing to the scorching heat wave condition.
