With Nepal set for crucial Constituent Assembly polls next month, Japan today provided various election-related materials worth USD 1.42 million to the country's election commission.

Shuichi Sakakibara, Charge de Affaires of the Embassy of Japan, handed over the election-related gear to EC Secretary Narendra Dahal, according to sources.

By utilising the Japanese grant, election materials such as 20,000 larger sized ballot boxes for the proportional electoral process, 106,250 ballot box stickers, 831,250 security seals and 43,750 fences at polling centres were procured for the CA election.

During the handing over ceremony, Sakakibara said that the support extended by Japan signifies the ever-existing and growing friendship and ties between the governments of Japan and Nepal, as well as the strong people-to-people relations between both countries.
