Japanese-aided centre for AIDS patients set up in Madurai

The home care-cum-vocational training centre and dispensary for AIDS patients was constructed with USD 1,00,121 fund offered by public and the government of Japan under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP), a release from the Consulate General of Japan here said.

The centre, located at Kaandai village in Madurai district, will benefit 1,190 people annually, it said.

Japanese Consul Kayoko Furukawa will inaugurate the Centre, which would be run by association for rural development.

Japanese government offers financial assistance under GGP to development projects designed to meet the diverse basic human needs of the people in developing countries.
