Jeweller kidnapped, robbed of 1.4 kg gold jewelleries

In a daring daylight robbery, a gang today kidnapped a jewellery merchant from Chennai and relieved him of 1.4 kg of gold jewels before setting him free near here, police said.

35-year old Lalithkumar was intercepted by the gangsters who came in a car and kidnapped him at knife-point near his relative's house here this morning.

Later, the gang freed him near Ariyalur who managed to reach Ariyalur and telephoned his relative here, who informed police.

Kumbakonam DSP Silambarasan visited the spot and conducted inquiry on a complaint by Lalithkumar's relative.
