Press Trust of India Peshawar
Pakistan's right wing party Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has withdrawn its demand for scrapping of a chapter on Indian freedom fighter Ranjeet Singh from the school curriculum in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Senior minister in KP cabinet and JI leader Inayatullah Khan told media here that his party was not against teaching life and achievement of Ranjeet Singh in schools but Islamic chapters should also be part and parcel of the textbooks.

JI, a partner in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led ruling coalition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had lodged a protest with PTI over scrapping Islamic chapters from textbooks and held a series of rounds of talks to ensure that syllabus was not changed.
