John Legend's mother judges his fashion sense

Singer John Legend may be a huge name in the music arena, but he still gets a reality check about how he carries himself, even today.

It is the 38-year-old singer-songwriter's mother, Phyllis Stephens, who keeps a tab on how he dresses, reported Femalefirst.

"She still comments on my clothes. For things she likes, she'll say, 'That's sharp, Johnny!" the singer said.

Legend added that his mother doesn't shy away from criticising his fashion choices.

Pleading his case, the musician added that he always had a knack of picking up good clothes.

"My personal style isn't outlandish in any way."
 

Legend said, "I was a very dapper kid. I grew up around people who loved clothes and loved making them."

The singer also explained that although he couldn't call himself a tailor, but he has been ironing his clothes from the time he was six-years-old.
