: To commemorate noted theatre director Jose Chiramel on his eighth death anniversary, the Jose Chiramel Smaraka Samithi is organising an event tomorrow which will document his works and publish it.
The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) is a goodwill partner of the event.
The event will be held at the Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi Theatre, Thrissur.

In the eighties and Nineties, Chiramel played an important role in developing a contemporary, experimental theatre culture in Kerala.
Chiramel's dramas like 'Mudrarakshasam' had received national attention and he was also noted for translating Ibsen's plays and presenting them before local audiences. His drama camps were famous for actively involving people from various walks of life.
Advocate M Vinod, a Samithi member said there are only a few records of Chiramel's works or photographs of him or his plays."Through this year's event we are trying to document his works by interacting with participants of his camp and other theatre group members. The plan is to launch this as a book and then make a film on him', he said.
Well known director and dramatist A K Nambiar and writer 'Civic' Chandran will deliver memorial lectures. Film director V K Prakash and actor Murali Menon will also participate in the event.
"Jose Chiramel's workshops really influenced a generation of youngsters and created an enthusiasm for theatre',says Bose Krishnamachari, president of Kochi Biennale Foundation. It is important and good to see that his legacy is being carried forward, he added.
