In a memorandum faxed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, JSM demanded justice for victims of the Hashimpura massacre, which took place in Meerut district 25 years ago.

It also demanded adequate representation of minorities in para military forces to ensure that there is no repeat of Hashimpura massacre.

Hashimpura massacre took place on May 22, 1987, during the Hindu-Muslim riots in Meerut, when 19 Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel allegedly rounded up 42 Muslim youths from Hashimpura locality, took them in truck to the outskirts, near Murad Nagar in Ghaziabad district, where they were shot and their bodies were dumped in water canals.

A few days later the dead bodies were found floating in the canals. In May 2000, 16 of the 19 accused surrendered, and were later released on bail, while three were already dead.

The trial of the case was transferred by Supreme Court in 2002 from Ghaziabad to a Sessions Court at the Tis Hazari complex in Delhi, where it is the oldest pending case.

The Jan Sangharsh Morcha comprises Ulema Conference, the Welfare Party of India and the Momin Conference.
