Two months after the Supreme Court Collegium recommendation, Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar was today transferred to Madhya Pradesh High Court as Chief Justice.

Justice Khanwilkar (56) is the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Sources attributed the delay in transferring Justice Khanwilkar to a representation learnt to be made by a senior Madhya Pradesh High Court judge to the President, who said the exercise could result in his transfer too for which he was not willing as he is due to retire in the next few months.

Justice Khanwilkar's transfer was part of a reshuffle recommended by the Collegium in September.

The Collegium is also understood to have recommended sending Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir (58) of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court to the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
