An organisation of Kashmiri Pandits today demanded that the temples and shrines bill be passed in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for restoration and maintenance of religious places in the Kashmir Valley.
"Management committees of different temples and shrines in Kashmir have demanded that the temples and shrine bill be passed at the earliest," Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) spokesperson R L Bhat said here today.
Speaking at a meeting of the trust, he reiterated their demand to have all temples in Kashmir under collective management through an elected shrine board established under the bill, now pending before the state legislature.
Bhat made it clear that all the temples in Kashmir should be under the purview of the bill.
The participants decided that a symbolic protest would be held on February 16 at Press Club to press for the demand.
They reminded all political parties and leaders that they were answerable for their promises, and demanded that the bill be passed at the ensuing session of the assembly.
