: Kerala Governor Justice P Sathasivam today laid the foundation stone for a 120-bedded hospital in Mudalipalayam on the outskirts of the city as part of the 91st birthday celebrations of Perur Mutt Pontiff, Shantalinga Ramasamy Adigalar.
Some industrialists and philanthropists had come forward to construct the hospital at the birthplace of Adigalar, as per his wish, since there was no medical facility,particularly for women, children and poor.
Appreciating those behind setting up the hospital, Sathasivam said that Adigalar always was in forefront in the services of poor and needy and also Tamil Language.

The Rs 20 crore hospital, spread over 65,000 square feet is expected to be completed in another two years, Dr Nalla G Palanisami, one of the trustees, said at the function, in which Adigalar participated.
The two-storeyed hospital will cater to the needs of the locals and would provide free treatment for the poor and on concession for the needy, Palanisami said.
S Malarvizhi, chairperson of Sri Krishna Institutions, said it was planned to assist 90 temples in Tamil Nadu, where there was no facility or money to perform daily poojas.
Initially, 30 temples would be taken up by giving Rs 5,000 for each temple and in a phased manner all such temples in Tamil Nadu would be covered, she said.
