Kerala to prepare report on eco-sensitive zone

"The Supreme Court has directed states to submit a report in this regard. The departments of public works, electricity, tourism and water resources have been asked to submit their report to arrive at a stand in the matter," he said speaking at a meeting to discuss the issue.

The National Wildlife Board had decided to declare 10 km radius around wildlife sanctuaries as Eco Sensitive Zones.

Following opposition from various states, changes were brought to the quantum of area that is to be declared Eco Sensitive Zones, taking into consideration the speciality of each area.
