The police today claimed to have solved the kidnapping case of a minor girl from Bhattiprolu village of the district by arresting a dismissed BSF jawan who used to ferry her to school in his auto.

Andhra Pradesh DGP Sambasivarao said the girl was kidnapped by one Sriram Nageswararao (45), who was dismissed from the BSF and worked as a school auto driver, on April 21.

Her parents had lodged a complaint with Bhattiprolu police station, said the DGP.

Considering the sensitivity of the case, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had given special instructions to the police to solve the crime.

After kidnapping the minor, the accused stayed in Hyderabad, Ananthapur and various other places, police said.

He finally reached Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir, as he was familiar with the area, they said.

AP police had formed five special teams to crack the case. These teams visited various places in the country, said the DGP.

Nageswararao has a history of kidnapping women, said the official.
