'Knight Rider' gets reboot from Justin Lin

Iconic television series "Knight Rider" is set to a get a reboot and will head to digital platform instead of coming to TV.

The new show based on the classic series starring David Hasselhoff will be produced by "Fast & Furious" director Justin Lin, reported Variety.

The story revolves around a crime rider assisted by an artificially-intelligent high-tech car and Machinima, a global YouTube network mostly focusing on gaming, is reviving the series for digital world.

"'Knight Rider' is an iconic franchise whose concepts of AI and autonomous vehicles were science-fiction in the 1980s and are now science fact.

"Justin is one of the leading storytellers of his generation and we couldn't be more excited to work with him on re-invigorating Knight Rider for a new generation of fans," Machinima CEO Chad Gutstein said.
 

"Knight Rider" got a movie sequel in 1991, a TV-movie remake in 1994, a TV spinoff in 1997, and a TV revival in 2008 focusing on the son of Hasselhoff's Michael Knight.
