Press Trust of India Burdwan (WB)
The lawyers today boycotted proceedings at the CJM court in Burdwan district after arguments over bail plea at fifth judicial magistrate's room.

Bar Association General Secretary Sadhan Tah said the agitation will continue till Monday and alleged some judicial magistrates were having rapport with police affecting the system and hence should be shunted.

District judge K K Kumai sat with association members for resolving the impasse but there was little headway though the fifth judicial magistrate Binod Mahato was shifted and second judicial magistrate brought in his place in deference to the lawyers' demand.

Some of the association members also demonstrated before the fifth judicial magistrate's chamber and shouted slogans.

Earlier arguments broke out between the government prosecutor and defence counsel at fifth judicial magistrate's court over rejection of bail plea to four accused in a criminal case in Ausgram. Soon other lawyers supported the defehce lawyer and they alleged nexus between some judicial magistrates and police.

This resulted in boycott by the Bar Association.
