Work in all six district courts in Delhi was badly hit today as lawyers observed a day-long strike to protest against the shifting of Patiala House Court to Rouse Avenue.
The strike, called by the Co-ordination Committee of All District Court Bar Associations of Delhi, affected work in the six district courts -- Patiala House, Karkardooma, Tis Hazari, Saket, Dwarka and Rohini.
The spokesperson for the committee, Sanjeev Nasiar, claimed that in the new building plan, there was "no provision for lawyers' chambers (and) the decision of shifting was taken unilaterally."

The committee also demanded that there should be no further bifurcation of other courts.
"We demand that all the civil courts of Delhi should be made at one place, all the criminal courts at another and all the tribunals be made separately at some other place," the committee said.
A delegation of the lawyers also met the chief justice of Delhi High Court, Justice G Rohini, and some other judges with their demands.
"Justice Rohini assured us no decision will be taken without having any discussion with the leaders of the committee," Nasiar said.
