Scores of agitated lawyers protesting for establishment of a High Court bench in western Uttar Pradesh today assembled at Naya Ghaziabad Railway Station and stopped the Delhi-bound Shalimar Express train.
As the train arrived on the platform, agitated lawyers of Kendriya Sangharsh Samiti climbed over its engine and unfurled their banner on it and shouted slogans.
Police force was deployed in advance at the railway station to ward off any untoward incident.
Agitated lawyers were pacified after their brief demonstration and stoppage of train which departed after a short delay, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ran Vijay Singh said said.
President of district Bar Association Ram Avtar Gupta told that lawyers will continue their agitation till their demand for establishment of a High Court bench is fulfilled.
A delegation of lawyers will meet Union Law Minister Sadananda Gowda on April 15 to press for their prolonged demand.
A meeting will be convened in Noida on April 25 in which the office bearers of all bar associations from western Uttar Pradesh districts will take part to chalk out further course of their agitation, Gupta added.
