Lead prices edged up by 0.48 per cent to Rs 114.80 per kg in futures trading today as traders enlarged positions, supported by rising demand from battery-makers at the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in June month edged higher by 55 paise or 0.48 per cent to Rs 114.80 per kg in business turnover of 6,738 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month July contracts traded higher by 50 paise or 0.43 per cent to Rs 115.45 per kg in 166 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in lead futures to pick up in demand from battery-makers in the spot market.
