Lead futures traded a shade higher at Rs 152.85 per kg today as speculators raised their bets, taking positive cues from spot market on surging demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in May edged up by 10 paise, or 0.07 per cent to Rs 152.85 per kg in business turnover of 375 lots.

However, the metal for delivery in far-month June held steady at Rs 153.15 per kg in 5 lots.

Market analysts said expanding of positions by traders on the back of rising demand from battery makers in the physical market, mainly influenced lead prices at futures trade.
