Light, moderate rain in Rajasthan

Various places in the state recorded light to moderate rain although two schoolgirls were swept away in an overflowing nullah filled with rainwater in Rajasthan's Sirohi district today.

Irana (6) and Sapna (8) were crossing the nullah and slipped into it while they were returning home, in the Swarupganj police station area.

The bodies were fished out a few metres away from the spot and handed over to family members following post mortem.

The matter was registered under CrPc 174, SHO Swarupganj police station Bhagwat Singh said.

Meanwhile, various places across the state recorded 1 to 3 cm rainfall in the past 24 hours.
 

According to MeT officials, Khandar in Sawai Madhopur district recorded 7 cm rainfall, followed by 6 cm in Ajmer, 4 cm each in Viratnagar of Jaipur, Kishanganj, Pokharan, Parbatsar and Jaisalmer.

From 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, Sriganganagar recorded 28 mm of rain, Pilani 7 mm and traces of rain were recorded in Dabok.

At 37.1 degrees Celsius, Sriganganagar was the hottest place in the state followed by Bikaner at 37, Barmer at 36.7, Jodhpur at 36.2, Jaisalmer at 36, Churu and Ajmer each at 34.6 and Jaipur at 34 degrees Celsius.

The MeT department has predicted light to heavy rainfall at a few places in Rajasthan.
