A 28-year-old man got no rub of the green as his eight burglary attempts in locked flats in a span of one hour in Vikhroli in Mumbai got him just one wristwatch and a pair of 'gold' bangles, an official said on Sunday.
Further misfortune lay in store for Nilesh Sitaram Pawar as his image was captured clearly by the CCTV cameras in the two residential complexes in Kannamwar Nagar area where the burglary attempts were made, leading to his being held a few hours later, the official said.
"Pawar broke into eight flats that were locked in the early hours of Saturday but managed to get just a wristwatch. The two bangles he thought were made of gold turned out to be fake as well. Residents in the morning saw flats open despite families living there not having returned from vacations, and alerted police," the official said.
Pawar was nabbed from Masjid Bunder area in south Mumbai some hours later, he said, and the stolen items were returned to their owners.
