M A M Ramaswami withdraws two police complaints

Noted industrialist and former MP, M A M Ramaswami today withdrew two complaints of life threats he had filed with the police recently.

Counsel representing the 83-year-old veteran industrialist, who was chairman of Chettinad Group of Companies, withdrew the complaints filed in ForeShore Estate and Thiruvanmiyur police stations, police said.

In his complaint filed recently, Ramaswami had said he was facing threats to his life as surveillance cameras were installed in Chettinad Palace, situated on several acres of land at R A Puram, which is also his residence.

Similarly, another complaint was made at Thiruvanmiyur Police Station that people had been trespassing another residential property located within the limits.
 

In another development, shareholders of Chettinad Cements at an Annual General Body Meeting held here refused "re-appointment" to Ramaswami as the company's Director following his retirement in rotation.

Ramaswamy is undergoing treatment in a private hospital for chest pain since yesterday after CBI registered a graft case against him for allegedly bringing the Registrar of Companies here to nullify the resolution to be adopted at today's AGM with an intention to thwart attempts by his foster son M A M R Muthiah, from gaining control over the group's affairs.
