After raking up the issue of his educational qualification, Opposition Congress today accused Maharashtra minister Babanrao Lonikar of not disclosing in his election affidavit that he has two wives.

State Congress spokesman Sachin Sawant told reporters that the voter list in Partur assembly constituency shows that Lonikar, the Water Supply Minister, has two wives.

"In house no 83, which is the residence of Lonikar, five members are registered as voters. Two women are shown as his wives," he claimed.

"But the minister's election affidavit in 2004, 2009 and 2014 assembly polls mentions that he has only one wife," Sawant said.

Concealing information in the affidavit is a crime, he said, adding, "BJP lectures others on morality. Now we want a clarification from the BJP government on this matter... Lonikar should be dumped from the ministry."

The minister could not be contacted for reaction. His office said he was travelling.

Earlier this week, Congress had pointed out that one of Lonikar's election affidavits mentioned his education as first year BA, while two other affidavits said he had studied up to class V.
