A gang of four unidentified persons allegedly looted Rs 33.68 lakh from a cash van in Bhiwandi area here after stabbing two employees of the toll collection firm, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday at Kalwar when the accused waylaid the four-wheeler carrying the cash, which was to be deposited in a bank, a press release by the Thane District Rural Police said.
The four accused, who came in a car and a two-wheeler, also threw chili powder on accountant Ganashyam Tiwari and another employee of the firm and stabbed them, it said, adding the injured have been admitted to a hospital.
Following a complaint by Tiwari, a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered and a manhunt was launched to nab the accused, said the release.
