BJP MP Bidyut Baran Mahato today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das have assured of taking all necessary steps to check migration of labourers in view of the drought situation in Jharkhand.
"Two days ago I had met the Prime Minister in the Parliament and discussed various issues in the interest of the people including the drought," Mahato said here.
Addressing a press conference, he said "I urged the PM to take necessary steps to prevent migration by implementing the central and state government-sponsored schemes in the state to minimise migration."

Among the demands, Mahato said the issue of opening of the closed Rakha and Kendadih copper mines of the public sector Hindustan Copper Limited in Ghatsila sub-division was also discussed in detail.
"Opening of other copper mines like Kisangadia, Dhobni, Pathargora, Jagannathpur etc following their auction will help provide employment to the people living in and around," he said.
Besides, the issue of Swarnarekha Multipurpose Project (SMP), construction work of which had began four decades ago but still remained incomplete, was also discussed, he added.
