Major tragedy averted by railway police

A major tragedy has been averted by the railway police after its personnel notice a massive fire that broke out near the railway track in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police officer said today.

"Last night fire broke out near the railway track in Samba, a team of the railway police reached the spot and helped douse the fire," the officer said.

The fire could have spread and engulfed the trains that were to pass from the area, he said.

He said timely action by the railway police averted a major tragedy.
