City police today arrested a man against whom a case of murder had been registered in Karnataka last year after riots broke out during the birth anniversary celebrations of 18th century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan, an official said here.
The arrested accused was identified as Raviraj Pujari (30), a native of Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, crime branch police inspector S L Chaudhari said.
According to him, Pujari was held from an apartment in Vastrapur Lake area of the city, where he had been hiding since the last few days.

"A case of murder and assault had been filed against Pujari in Bantwal, when riots broke out in that area on November 12 during the birth anniversary celebrations of Tipu Sultan. To evade his arrest, Pujari had come to the city a few days back," said Chaudhary.
Meanwhile, Karnataka police learnt about his presence here and sought the help of crime branch to nab him.
"After getting the lead from Karnataka police about Pujari's presence here, we caught him from an apartment near Vastrapur lake today and he was later arrested," Chaudhary said, adding that the accused will be handed over to Karnataka police in due course.
