Man accused of posing as cop arrested

Robin Khan, hailing from UP's Prabudh Nagar, was apprehended from Jalandar recently following investigations into a complaint filed by hotel owner Jai Bharat who claimed that he was cheated by his friend who promised a job for his brother in Railways and withdrew money from his account by stealingn his ATM card.
"Khan had collected several lakhs of rupees from people. He would promise them of a job in government sector and charge Rs 1.5-2 lakh. He would pose as a Sub Inspector of Delhi Police," Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Additional Commissioner of Police (Central), said.
The youth is familiar with police working as his father is working in ITBP as an Assistant Sub Inspector.
Khan himself had appeared in the examination for recruitment in Delhi Police but failed. Later, he allegedly got a uniform from the local market near Police Training School in Wazirabad and subsequently contacted his friends and relatives and convinced them that he had joined Delhi Police.
"In order to win their trust, he used to meet them in police uniform," Srivastava said.
Bharat informed police that Khan was his friend during school days in Udhampur of Jammu and Kashmir and had accidentally met him at Karol Bagh and told him he had joined Delhi Police. He allegedly told Bharat that he can get ajob for his brother in Railways and took Rs 2.14 lakh. (More)
