Man awarded 10 year's RI for raping minor girl

A local court today sentenced a man to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl in 2014.

Balasore Additional district judge A Sadangi convicted Kanda Sing and sentenced him to jail for 10 years.

The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict. He will have to undergo a jail term of another three months if he failed to pay the fine.

According to prosecution, Sing, a resident of Kharidmukhura village, took an 8-year-old girl from his village to a nearby lonely place and raped her on January 30, 2014.

The victim's mother had lodged a complaint against the accused.
