Man gets 5.5 years RI for attempting to murder policemen

The district court has sentenced a man to five and a half years' rigorous imprisonment for attempting to murder a policeman in 2012.

Additional Session Judge Ram Chandra Yadav sentenced Kapil Singh to five and a half years' rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty of attempting to murder Sub-inspector Sompal, senior prosecution officer Lalit Mudgal said today.

According to the prosecution, Singh and his accomplice Ashok had stolen a car from Greater Noida on May 21, 2012. The police had traced them in the Dadri area.

The accused had run over Sompal when he got down from a police vehicle to arrest them.
 

Ashok had died in April 2013 and the case against him was closed.
