Man gets 7 years in jail for raping mentally challenged girl

A court in Pauri sentenced a man to seven years in prison for raping a mentally challenged girl over a year ago.

Pauri District and Sessions Judge Kumkum Rani sentenced Mukesh alias Mukki to seven years' imprisonment yesterday after he pleaded guilty of raping the 20-year-old victim on January 14 last year.

A fine of Rs 10,000 was also imposed on the convict, public prosecutor K P Dangwal said.

The mentally challenged girl was raped by Mukesh, a resident of Mallirain, when she was returning home all alone from the market place, he said.
