Man given lifer for killing wife

A local court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his wife about two years ago.

District and Sessions judge, Kendrapara, Biranchi Kumar Rath sentenced 47-year-old Akshya Kumar Sahoo of Kakata village life imprisonment for axing to death his wife Puspalata on September 10, 2013.

After killing her, the man had tried to flee the village but the police with the help of some locals arrested him.

The police also seized the blood-stained weapon from his house.
