Man killed for opposing marriage of his daughter

A man was allegedly killed by his wife and daughter for opposing the girl's marriage to her lover, who aided the two in the murder.

According to police, Sukhdev Singh, a resident of a village here, was allegedly killed by his wife Balwinder and daughter Amandeep with the help of the latter's lover Sukhpal.

The trio allegedly killed Sukhdev with sharp-edged weapons at his house, they said.

Later in the wee hours today, Amandeep and Sukhpal put his body in a sack and threw it in a canal.

However, on their way back, they were stopped by a team of police officials at a routine check point near the canal from where police recovered the body of Sukhdev.
 

Both were apprehended on the spot, police said.

A case of murder has been registered against the three accused.
