Man kills self after butchering 14 members of family

In a ghastly crime, a man allegedly murdered 14 members of his family, including seven children, and committed suicide early today in adjoining Thane, police said.

The brutal murder took place around 1 AM when the accused apparently sedated the victims before slitting their throats with a large knife, they said.

The man has been identified as Hasnil Warerkar.

The victims included seven children.

A woman from the family has survived and is in a private hospital in Thane, police said.

The accused was found hanging in the house where the gruesome incident took place, they said.
