A middle-aged man was shot at by four unidentified persons near Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) office here this morning, police said.
The incident occurred when Narrandra Tomar (40), secretary of Awasiya Sahakari Samiti of Ghaziabad, was going to his office around 10.45 AM in Nav Yug Market of the district when four unidentified persons in a car intercepted him and opened fire, they said.
Around five rounds of ammunition were fired out of which one hit Tomar on his neck. He was rushed to a hospital where his condition is stated to be critical, police added.
After the incident, all the four accused abandoned their car and escaped, a senior police officer said.
Tomar lives with his family in Kheda village of Pilakhua area in the district.
A case has been registered against unknown persons, police said adding Tomar's family is being questioned in this connection.
