Man tries to kidnap, sell toddler for drug money

The Delhi Police have arrested a 22-year-old man who allegedly tried to kidnap and sell a one- month-old boy to fund his drug habit.

The toddler's mother told police yesterday that when she was sleeping, her neighbour Sumit entered her house and took her son away, said AK Singla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast).

When she raised an alarm, he got scared and fled the spot leaving the baby behind. A case was registered and Sumit was arrested today.

The incident happened in Nand Nagri area.

Police said the man, who is unemployed, is addicted to cannabis and needed money to buy the drug.
