Man with 'suspicious' object offloaded from aircraft at IGI

A man was today offloaded from a Pune-bound flight and handed over to the police at the Delhi airport after the security personnel thought he was carrying a "suspicious" object, which later turned out to be a mobile phone charging power bank, officials said.
Firoz S Saihk had kept a power bank in his check-in baggage and the scanning team at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here mistook it for an explosive device, a senior official engaged in airport security said.
Soon after, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) bomb disposal and detection team and a sniffer dog squad were called in, which declared that the "suspicious" object was a power bank.
"The man was however offloaded by the airline and handed over to the police," the official said.
