A man and a woman were today arrested at the airport here for allegedly smuggling out Malaysian currency worth Rs 6.4 lakh, a CISF official said.
He said K Padmanabhan and K Rajathi were apprehended when Central Industrial Security Force personnel detected their suspicious movements in the terminal area.
The two, who were travelling to Kuala Lumpur, were asked to undergo detailed frisking after which two bundles of 20,000 Malaysian currency each were recovered from their bags.
The man and the woman have been handed over to the Customs department officials, along with the seized currency, which is worth about Rs 6.4 lakh, a CISF spokesperson said.
