: City-based Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Wednesday said it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Al-Mustafa International University, Iran, the first academic collaboration at international level for the varsity.
As part of the MoU, the two varsities agreed to promote and broaden their activities with the vision that it will be a new phase in rejuvenating Indo-Iran relations in order to facilitate research and mutual exchanges of Scholars.

Collaboration between the two institutions will envisage research in the field of Humanities, Culture, History, Persian, Arabic, Urdu languages and literature, Management, Mass Communication, Islamic Studies etc, a MANUU release said.
The MoU was signed by M A Sikandar, Registrar, MANUU and Mohammad Reza Saleh, Chief Representative of MIU, in the presence of MANUU Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz and MIU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ali Abbasi and Registrar Hameed Jazaeri.
The MoU also envisages provision for scholarship at Masters and Doctorate level for scholars of MANUU, establishment of a Chair of Eminent scholars/students,exchange of scholars, international seminars, conferences and symposia.
MIU will also extend cooperation and support to establish Quli Qutub Shah Chair at MANUU to identify joint projects to work upon, the release said, adding the MoU would remain in force for a three year period.
Prof Ali Abbasi expressed the hope that MoU would pave the way for mutual exchange of knowledge.

He extended an invitation to Aslam Parvaiz to visit Iran.
Parvaiz described the MoU as a new beginning for MANUU and also recalled the warmth and closeness between the two countries and expressed confidence that this step will further the momentum.
