Maoists blew up a government high school building apparently for defying their poll boycott call, in Bihar's Lakhisarai district.

The Maoists raided Navratnapur village last night and and raised the high school building to the ground in Kajra police station area, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Manoj Kumar Tiwari said.

The ultras targeted the school building apparently to teach the villagers a lesson for defying their call for boycott of the general elections, he said.

A case was registered against the Maoists for destroying public property, the SDPO said.

The Maoists had targeted the same school building earlier too by planting bombs but they were recovered in time and defused.
