Maoists killed a villager suspecting him to be a police informer in Narayanpatna block here, police said today.
Ratanu Pidika, a resident of Pedaitiki village, was killed yesterday, they said.
"About 20 armed Maoists dragged out Pidika from his home before killing him. His body was later found by the locals on the outskirts of the village," police said.
However, the police denied that the deceased was an informer.
"He was not an informer. Maoists kill innocent villagers for other reasons and label them as police informer. An investigation has been launched," Koraput SP Charan Singh Meena said.
