For the first time since demonetisation of higher currency notes, Mathura is likely to face shortage of small denomination notes from tomorrow.

"We can at the most exchange/give small or medium currency by tomorrow as the stock of such notes is limited," Naval Kishor Agrawal, the Manager of main branch of State Bank said.

He also disclosed that normally currency of the chest of this bank also feeds other banks and hence they may also face similar situation.

Distt Magistrate Nitin Bansal had already written Reserve Bank of India a letter to this affect.

"Apprehending shortage of currency", Distt Magistrate Nitin Bansal said, "I had already written RBI Kanpur about a week before, requesting them to dispatch maximum currency."

He said the vehicle for carrying the notes is already standing in front of RBI Kanpur, however, the RBI is also running short of lower denomination currency.
