The organisers of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) have taken adequate measures to avoid the impact of demonetisation on the delegates and invitees arriving here for the event.

"We have requested for one mobile ATM which will be installed at the IFFI venue. The State Bank of India has been asked to provide us the machine," Rajendra Talak, vice chairman, Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), a nodal agency hosting the event along with Directorate of Film Festival, told PTI.

The festival would be inaugurated today by filmmaker Ramesh Sippy in the presence of Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu during a function to be held at Dr Shama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium.

Talak said all the vendors, who have put up stalls at the IFFI venue has been asked to install debit-credit card swipe machines so that people are not made to dole out cash.

Over 20 stalls are put up within the IFFI venue surrounding the INOX multiplex and Macquiniz Palace.

Talak said till now the organisers have not received any query with regard to demonetisation from the delegates and invitees.

"We will also keep delegates updated about the availability of ATM machines to the delegates," he said.

The organisers said that nearly 7,000 delegates have registered to participate in the event.

The eight-day-long festival will screen 300 films from different countries.
