Educational establishments of Kerala were the maximum beneficiaries of National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI), its Chairman Justice M S A Siddiqui said here today.

Speaking at a function organised by Muslim Education Society, he said "educational institutions of Kerala are the maximum beneficiaries of our Commission while other states are lagging behind".

He said the Commission was generating awareness and the situation was improving greatly.

Highlighting the powers and functions of the Commission, he asked members of the minority communities to avail of the facilities.

Presenting the statistical datas about the institutions to which the Commission granted Minority Status Certificate, he said he said it had granted approximately 10,000 Minority Status Certificates.

Minority Status Certificate was mandatory for all the educational institutions established and administered by minority communities to claim the rights enshrined in Articles 29 and 30 of the Constitution of India.
