Observing that the pictures of Congress leaders in ration cards amounted to violation of the Model Code of Conduct, leader of the opposition in Himachal P K Dhumal today sought action from the Election Commission.
In a complaint to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state, Dhumal took strong exception to the display of pictures of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and others on ration cards and alleged that it was violation of model code of conduct.
He demanded immediate withdrawal of ration cards with pictures of these leaders and said it was an attempt to "mislead and woo voters" in violation of the Code.

He alleged that the government had been violating the code right from the time the Lok Sabha elections were announced and said the BJP had already made several complaints.
Asking the CEO to take immediate action on the complaints, Dhumal said, "We have full confidence that the CEO would take cognisance of these violations and initiate quick action.
