Medium sugar falls on low demand

Medium sugar prices fell at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to lower demand from stockists and retailers amid ample stock position.

Meanwhile, small sugar witnessed mixed trend on the back of alternate bouts of buying and selling.

Medium sugar (M-30) dropped by Rs 30 to 3,146/3,272 from Monday's closing level of Rs 3,146/3,302.

Small sugar (M-30) was quoted at 3,050/3,142 as against Rs 3,012/3,162.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,050/3,142 (Rs 3,012/3,162).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,146/3,272 (Rs 3,146/3,302).
