Menthol moves up on increased demand

Menthol prices firmed up by Rs 5 per kg at the local chemical market today due to increased offtake by consuming industries.

However, other chemicals held steady in scattered deals.

Marketmen said increased demand from consuming industries mainly pushed up menthol prices.

In the national capital, menthol bold crystal, flake and oil were up by Rs 5 each to Rs 1,115, Rs 1,105 and Rs 1,135 per kg respectively.

Following are today's quotations:

Ammonium chloride (50 kg) Rs 2,000-3,000, Acetic acid (1kg) Rs 53-57, Ammonia bicarb (25 kg) Rs 600-700, Boric acid technical (50 kg) Rs 4,500-5,000, Borex granular (50 kg) Rs 2,200-2,500.
 

Caustic soda flake (50 kg) Rs 1,850-1,950, Citric acid (50 kg) (China) Rs 3,700-3,800, Citric acid deshi (50 kg) Rs 3,800-4,000, Camphor slab (1 kg) Rs 360, Camphor powder (1kg) Rs 325, Glycerin (1 kg) Rs 140-160, Hexamine (1kg) Rs 95, Hydrogen peroxide (1 kg) Rs 36-50, menthol bold crystal (per kg) Rs 1,115, menthol flake (1 kg) Rs 1,105 and mentha oil (1kg) Rs 1,135.
